About Leslie Adkins

After buying my first camera, which was a Polaroid, and seeing that image after 10 seconds, I was hooked on photography.  From that point, photography became not only my destiny, but a life long passion.

Capturing that moment, documenting a story or shooting for a non-profit organization have all been a part of my development and growth. I sharpened my skills while a photojournalist for 12 years at the Post- Tribune Newspaper in Northwest Indiana, which is part of the Chicago Tribune Media group.

Now I'm flying solo and have fallen in love again with black and white photography. In the past I've done personal projects on Carol Moseley Braun while she was running for mayor.  My freelance work includes the University of Chicago, the Chicago Tribune and fifth ward alderman Leslie Hairston plus my work has appeared on public television Chicago Tonight WTTW. Currently I am shooting and doing videography for the Chicago Sun-Times.  Videos are available on request for viewing.
